I am an artist printmaker based in Hove, UK who works predominantly in the medium of linocut. I am inspired by subjects around the themes of birds, nature, architecture and tattoo imagery and I like to create bold, linear images through detailed mark making which I then print onto handmade Japanese papers. As well as making limited edition prints, I also make a range of linoprinted merchandise which includes notebooks, coasters, placemats, bookmarks, tote bags and cards.
I have an artistic background, having specialised in art subjects all throughout school and college and graduating in Fine Art: Painting at Bath Spa University in 2008 but I am a self-taught printmaker. I started working for a specialist art supplies company called Lawrence Art Supplies in 2012 and I honestly feel like I’ve learnt more about art from working there than I did through studying it! I discovered my love of lino almost by accident - I wanted to learn more about the materials that I was selling as part of my job and I fell in love with the process as soon as I tried it.
I launched Print Club in 2018, where I have created a space for printmakers to have access to presses and printmaking facilities and I teach beginners linocutting workshops too. This all takes place in West Hove Art studio, a wonderful communal space which I manage which you can read more about here.
As well as being an artist and running Print Club, I am also a curator of exhibitions and I put on shows twice a year as part of Artists Open Houses which you can read more about here.
In 2019, my linocut ‘Eastbourne’ was selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and then very recently I had my copper plate etching ‘Hedge Sparrow’ selected for this years show in Summer 2024!
