Back of Dreamland, Margate
A two layer linocut print of a scaffolded fire escape around the back of ‘Dreamland’ in Margate, UK.
Made from a photograph I took when I was visiting Margate for the day and this structure caught my eye; I love the forms of fire escapes as well as celebrating things that most people don’t notice. ‘Dreamland’ is a big amusement part and tourist attraction in Margate and an interesting bit of architecture in itself but I was more interested in this functional part of it around the back of it.
With this piece I wanted to highlight the way that one half of the structure was in a shadow and I did this by using an experimental approach of using a separate block of uncarved lino which I printed onto the paper with grey ink before printing the main linocut in black ink on top.
Limited edition of 20 prints
Printed onto Somerset Grey 280gsm velvet printmaking paper
55 x 38cm
Sold unframed and print will be wrapped in acid free tissue paper in a sturdy tube
