Falcon
A two layer reduction linocut print of a Falcon, using Japanese vinyl rather than traditional lino to carve into.
As a great lover of making linocuts of birds, and being experienced when it comes to one layer monochrome printmaking I decided to challenge myself by using colour and multi-layers.
I used a wide roller to make a colour blend which acts as the falcons silhouette, and then after printing just 22 of these, I then carved into the same image - cutting away everything where I wanted the colour to appear and leaving raised anything that I wanted to appear in brown/black, making the falcon come to life through detail.
Made into a limited edition of 20 linocut prints on Okawara Japanese paper using oil based relief inks.
They are 46 x 33cm in size and are sold unframed. Prints will be wrapped in acid free tissue paper and rolled in a sturdy tube for delivery.
